I had no idea of this statistic: every 80 seconds home fires destroy memories.
The Chicago chapter of the American Red Cross is leading a call-to-action against home fires as a reminder for Red Cross Month and to signify the end of “fire season.” Thanks to Lauren Snyder for sharing this unique campaign with me.
One of the most difficult items for people to lose in a fire is their personal memories, specifically their photos. Visit www.every80seconds.com to experience a virtual blaze of your Facebook pictures. (Don’t worry, they are all safe!) If you’re able, you can also donate to the Red Cross. I’m fortunate to have never dealt with the disaster of a fire personally, but without this call-to-action would not have taken the time to be thankful for just that.
